When it comes to antiques, we’re always looking for items that help balance the more contemporary feeling furniture that we have in the shop. You’ll see in the above photograph a grouping of some of the antiques we’ve just brought in with this kind of variation. We’ve already sold the little carved fish, but I’m keeping my eye out for delicately carved wood pieces like this, as well as any old brass, copper or steel works with deep patina.
The stone piece at the bottom right is particularly charming. The stone was chosen for it's shape which is reminiscent of the special bag or sack carried by Daikoku-sama (god of the harvest) and Hotei-sama (god of good fortune), and is said to be filled with people's gratitude and compassion and to have one in your home is kind of like a good luck charm.
