Atelier des Cent Ans

Gilbert Garcia stopped by the shop the other day to drop off some new work by himself and Renaud Sauvé. It was such a pleasure to catch up over a cup of coffee and hear about what they have been up to. We received a large selection: tiled porcelain artworks adorned with mesmerizing motifs and textures, some smaller ceramic sculptures, and stools joined with beautiful dovetails, all of which we're excited to share with you on our webshop.

Atelier des Cent Ans is a partnership between Quebec ceramicist Renaud Sauvé and wood craftsman Gilbert Garcia, established in 2008 in Irlande, Quebec.

With an academic background in ceramics and philosophy, following a stint as prop master with Cirque du Soleil, Renaud Sauvé creates fine ceramics made of porcelain. In 2014 he received a grant from the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec and held his first solo exhibition at Mjölk. He has since shown his work in Quebec and Toronto.

After many years building houses and movie sets, Gilbert Garcia trained at École du Meuble de Montreal and established Atelier des Cent-ans with Renaud Sauvé. Since 2008, they have been making small-production furniture and special commissions integrating wood and ceramics.
