The two side tables were created by ema ceramics in collaboration with designer Thom Fougere. Ema hand built each ceramic top in a simple square form, while Thom carefully designed the dark-stained walnut bases.

The wooden bases feature subtly distinct patterns that give each table a unique presence, echoing the natural variations achieved through the firing process.

The tops were saggar-fired, an alternative technique offering more control over the firing environment and well suited for thicker pieces. Natural materials such as sawdust and leaves were wrapped around each piece in aluminum foil, allowing heat and smoke to interact with the clay and create the final surface patterns.

The collaboration brings together Thom's refined furniture design with Ema's organic approach to ceramics, balancing the simplicity of the forms with the unpredictable marks of the fire.
