“The SAS Royal Hotel lobby is an essential part of their legendary interior,” says Henriksen. “It’s enormous and elegant. We wanted to design a piece of furniture that could create a sense of intimacy in this very open space.” “At the same time,” adds Rützou, “the design had to relate the signature spiral staircase and the circular columns of the space. A comfortable design that would somehow also make you feel protected. Sitting alone or in a group, without feeling too exposed.” Whether for an exclusive hotel, club or lounge, or a private living space, Loafer offers the ultimate in luxury. The freedom to lounge in style forever.

Established in 2005 by Signe Bindslev Henriksen and Peter Bundgaard Rützou, Space Copenhagen is a design studio working across multiple disciplines from furniture, lighting and refined objects, to art installations, art direction and interior design for private homes, hotels and restaurants all over the world. The ambition is to forge new paths by balancing opposites: classic and modern, industrial and organic, sculptural and minimal, light and shade. The studio’s intuitive approach embodies designs that are distinctively shaped by the given circumstances, functional needs, and a fundamental interest in human behavior. It is a sense of and belief in slow aesthetic that centers quality and longevity.

Paying homage to Denmark’s long-standing design heritage, &Tradition bridges old and new by creating furniture, lighting and interior objects with timeless appeal. From reissuing design icons to creating future classics in collaboration with acclaimed international designers, the collection combines craftsmanship with creativity and shapes carefully considered pieces with purpose and meaning. Always respectfully, and made to last.
