Antique Swedish Textile with Three Flowers
A vintage mid-20th century handwoven textile from Marta Måås Fjetterström workshop in Båstad, Sweden.
Three stylized flowers or female figures occupy the centre of the composition; their geometrical gentle dark brown outlines are infilled with green, turquoise, brown and yellow; the background is an off-white natural wool; two sides of which in turn boast simple geometrical decorative motives.
The Märta Måås-Fjetterström pieces have found their way to the collections of Le Louvre, Victoria and Albert Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and National museum. The studio knowledge has been handed down from generation to generation of artisan weavers, ensuring unique pieces of unparalleled quality and beauty.
